Irrigation Winterization

Ensure the protection of your irrigation system during the freezing temperatures of a Kentucky winter by opting for professional irrigation winterization services from Automatic Rain Irrigation. Our experienced technicians are well-equipped to properly close down your system, preventing costly damage.

To schedule your Winterization, simply give our office a call, preferably in October or early November. We recommend contacting us 7-10 days in advance as our schedule tends to fill up quickly.

Irrigation Winterization Near You

Irrigation Winterization Services Include:

Turning off your irrigation water

Turning off the irrigation controller

Creating a winterization report

Opening manual faucets and drains (if necessary)

Blowing out water from the irrigation system

Inspecting the overall condition of your irrigation system

Checking the ignition valves and backflow preventer

Frost before your Winterization

It is common to experience an early frost prior to system winterization. Frost will not affect your system, but a hard freeze can. If a hard frost is predicted, ensure your system is set to run a full cycle that night. The running water through your system during the coldest part of the night will help prevent pipes from breaking.

Do-It-Yourself Winterization

Winterizing your system is important for its longevity. Because Kentucky has a variable winter climate, Automatic Rain Irrigation does NOT recommend shutting down your own system. Our technicians have the appropriate equipment to remove all the water from your water lines and backflow. Systems Automatic Rain Irrigation does not shut down cannot be warrantied for broken pipes.
